The Limestone Way: Part 3/3 - Brassington to Rocester (14 Miles, Moderate)

Details

The Limestone Way: 46 miles (74 km) of scenic footpaths snaking through the beautiful White Peak region of the Peak District. Running roughly North to South, starting in Castleton, ending in Rocester, the trail visits dozens of Derbyshire's top attractions; Cave Dale, Robin Hood's Stride, Dovedale and Harboro Rocks to name a few.

We'll be undertaking this challenging trek over three consecutive Saturdays in August:

  • 2nd Castleton to Monyash (18 miles)
  • 9th Monyash to Brassington (18 miles)
  • 16th Brassington to Rocester (14 miles)

People are welcome to join any of these hikes, although badges will be awarded to those who complete all three!

Route

Setting off from Brassington, we'll head out through the quaint villages of Parwich and Tissington before skirting around Thorpe Cloud to the Dovedale stepping stones.

We'll then follow the River Dove briefly before peeling off towards Stanton Wood. Many twists and turns later we'll pick up the River Dove again and hike on over to the final stop on the Limestone Way; Rocester, where we can admire the impressive ironwork sculptures and retire to Red Lion for a celebratory drink.

Lifts back to the start will be arranged for those that need it.
