You don't have to stray far from Macclesfield to experience the delights of the Peak District. Lyme Park, Taxal Edge, Windgather Rocks, Harrop Wood, Andrew's Knob... just some of the impressive sights we'll be visiting on this trek through north east corner of Cheshire.

This might be well-trodden ground for a few locals but in typical Marauder fashion I hope to unearth a few hidden gems along the way. Similarly, expect a fair amount of elevation and at least a couple "one last hill"s on this outing.

Due to the lack of a watering hole at the end of this walk, I'm proposing a rare half-way tipple at The Swan Inn in Kettleshulme.

Meeting point

The lovely Coffee Tavern in Pot Shrigley:
https://maps.app.goo.gl/CuDzPpzqd3iyMhFg8

The coffee shop opens at 10am so I'll let people grab a quick brew before we set off at around 10:15.

Parking

Parking at the Coffee Tavern is free. As usual I encourage car sharing so we don't take up the entire carpark for most of the day.

Public transport

Buses to this remote part of the Peaks are limited for shout up if you'd like a lift from nearby Macclesfield.

Dogs

Well behaved dogs are welcome on the walk, in the coffee shop and in the half-way pub.

What to bring

Please bring a packed lunch, plenty of water and appropriate clothing/footwear for the weather and terrain.

After the hike

We'll grab a drink in the Holly Bush:
