Attention Marin walkers! Let's get together on Sunday mornings for a brisk walk or hike. You don't need to be a triathlete or marathoner or mountain climber to join; we'll do both road and trail rambles that are under five miles and of easy to moderate difficulty. BUT: you should be fit enough to easily navigate hills of varying steepness, some with steps and stairs. How about winding through the scenic neighborhoods of Sausalito, with views of Angel Island and Tiburon? Or around Fort Baker? Or on a Tennessee Valley or Marin Headlands trail? If this sounds like fun to you, then sign up!

To participate in a hike, it is require that you take responsibility for yourself and any guest(s) that you bring. This is actually spelled out in your agreement with meetup.com website. See especially section 6.2 in "Meetup Terms of Service Agreement" at

Let[s walk to Kirby Cove!.

There are two options for accessing the SCA trailhead to Conzelman Rd. The first is near the Moore Rd. Pier/Discovery Bay Museum for no charge. (If you're lucky, you'll snag a spot near the Pier right next to the access road). To reach the trailhead you'll need to huff and puff for 15 minutes on the paved, no-cars-allowed access road that winds under the GGB to the Golden Gate North Vista Point parking lot.

If you want to avoid the trudge, you can also park at the Golden Gate North Vista Point parking lot on the shoulder of the Golden Gate Bridge (parking is $3 an hour - or was last time I checked).

From the SCA trailhead we'll head up until we hit Conzelman. Then we'll take off on the gently winding downward trail that leads to Kirby Cove and the beach. On the way back we'll check out a couple cool bunkers and play tourist as we take in the sweeping views of the GGB at Battery Spencer.
