Come Make New Friends

I believe connecting with other people is what brings purpose and meaning to our lives. So, if you think your life would be enriched by making a new friend or two, this event is for you!

Tonight we are at McMenamins on Broadway, which is an amazing 2nd floor location. It has a great patio which is reserved for our group. The patio is covered, and heated - so it is a great location no matter what the weather. I consider this patio a hidden gem in Portland.

If you are new to Meetup, or if coming to a social event makes you a little anxious, please know I will try to personally greet everyone who comes to this event. And also help introduce you into a conversation, if you like.

The event starts at 6pm, but please feel free to stop by anytime while the event is going on. There is no such thing as being late.

I suggest thinking about some interests/hobbies/passions you may want to talk about for this event. I have found that a good start to finding friends is to share a hobby or interest or passion.

I'm going to ask that you ponder a question for a few moments: WHAT IS THE MEANING OF LIFE?

Now, no one knows for sure what the answer is, but it is still a worthwhile question to think about. And, I'm going to offer you one potential answer to consider: THE MEANING OF LIFE IS SIMPLY THAT LIFE HAS MEANING.

Intriguing to think about that, no? I admit, it wrinkled my brain the first time I thought in these terms. And, if you think this answer has some merit, I want to hear about what YOUR meaning of life is.

Regardless of your answer to the question above, you are invited to come out this night and engage in some meaningful conversation. To meet some people IRL, as the kids say nowadays. To get those "mirror neurons" firing, which cannot be done with texting, or emails, or even video chats. If it has been a while since you have socialized in person, I PROMISE you it is an experience on a whole different level than what most people experience in day-to-day life now.

And, if we get to celebrate some little things in life with each other and learn to appreciate life a little more, then so much the better!

A tip for street parking: typically, it is easier to find parking on 16th or 17th, between about Couch and Everett.
