MVP - Meetup VOLUNTEERS of Pittsburgh! 😃
Are you looking to make a positive and powerful impact within your community and for the benefit of those less fortunate?
Are you seeking a larger purpose in life - one that will serve to leave a legacy and make a profound and lasting difference in the lives of others?
If so, please consider joining MVP!
This is a great Meetup volunteer group for singles, retirees, students, and individuals who are available and simply want to give back in a meaningful way and leave our world a better place.
This group also provides its members with companionship, as well as opportunities to develop friendships or future relationships with like-minded individuals who share that passion to serve!
We plan and coordinate volunteer events with charities, non-profits, and other organizations throughout the Greater Pittsburgh area and beyond!
Volunteer activities and events are open to all ages, throughout the week and 365 days per year!
Suggestions for volunteer opportunities and events from members are encouraged and welcome.
LIVE TO SERVE, SERVE TO LIVE – MVP! 😃
This event is an overview of how MVP has helped Light of Life and a token of appreciation for our efforts over the past two plus years.
We will also be looking towards the future - discussing how we can further impact the lives of those we serve to help bring about hope and healing!

The Volunteer Need
Volunteers are a vital part of our team and play an important role in the well-being of our residents. They assist with activities and field trips, distributing mail, making one-on-one visits, escorting wheelchair-bound residents to activities, assisting residents at mealtimes, reading to residents, and much more!
Visiting Volunteers
Looking for volunteers who are available to sit and visit with our residents, specifically those who cannot/will not leave their room/bed. These volunteers must complete the volunteer orientation process before hand as they will be one-on-one with our residents. We would like to avoid visiting during meal times when possible.
Expectations would be simply to sit with the resident and visit (talk, read a book, play cards, puzzles, etc). We know that human contact is something each of our residents will benefit from, some more than others.
Security will be available to help you find parking. Enter through the main entrance and sign in on the Volunteer binder. I will meet everyone in the lobby. We will plan to have a brief orientation in our chapel once everyone arrives. Following orientation, the group will support our activity staff by escorting our residents outside.
