Memphis Web Workers: Manipulating the real world with Arduinos and Electron
Details
Meet with people in Memphis interested in web design, front-end development, and user experience (UX) design.
This month Cameron Roe will be talking about Electron and Arduinos!
Want to control the lights in your house from an application on your desktop? Want to see the temperature of the rooms in your house from your taskbar? Any interest in making an application that responds to various sensors detecting changes in the real world? Only know HTML/CSS/JavaScript?
In this talk, we will explore the basics of utilizing data from and communicating with the Arduino hardware platform from GitHub's desktop application framework, Electron. We will see some basic examples of writing a desktop application that does something with the real-world. And all of this will be done without having to write a single line of a compiled language. All examples will be entirely written with the languages us web developers use on a day-to-day basis.
Dinner will be provided by VACO Memphis.
