What we’re about
Hang out with fellow smart, funny, empathetic, grounded guys who love books and great conversation. We welcome members who are 18+, including gay, bi, and straight men — and trans men too. 🌈
You might be our kind of reader if you enjoy:
📚 Exploring a wide range of non-fiction topics
🗣️ Having meaningful, engaging conversations with other men
👂 Listening to — and learning from — diverse viewpoints
🧭 Participating in a guided monthly book discussion
Our reading list spans biography/memoir, economics, food/health, history, philosophy, psychology, science, sociology, self-help, true crime, and LGBTQ topics.
We focus on non-fiction, reading a new book every four weeks 📅 and meeting in person for an hour on the 2nd Saturday of each month — usually outdoors in a park during summer ☀️🌳 and in a library meeting room during winter ❄️📚. During that book-club-hour we are focused and intentional: we start on time, end on time, and spend that one hour actually talking about the book.
Afterward, we wander to a nearby restaurant 🍽️ for optional, low-key socializing.
We also host a monthly Thursday Night Food Hangout — totally low pressure, no book talk required, just good food and good humans.
Founded by Paul Cram, Men-Who-Read was created to connect men in a low-key, welcoming environment where curiosity is celebrated and respect is a given. 💛
🎥 Notice of Filming and Photography
When you enter any Men-Who-Read event or program, you enter an area where photography, audio, and video recording may occur. 🎤📸🎬
We’re a fun community and love capturing good moments — but we completely understand that some people prefer not to be photographed or recorded. 🙅♂️
From bad-hair days to privacy concerns, every reason is valid.
Feel free to step out of photos or videos anytime you want. No explanations needed. 😊🫶
