Part 1: Building Stateless Mendix Apps at COA
At COA, multiple systems of record led to conflicting data across applications. To resolve this, COA is moving towards a new microservices architecture: one centralized system of record, exposed via an Azure API Management layer, and multiple stateless Mendix apps — each focused on a specific business process.
By designing these apps to be stateless and fully reliant on real-time data, COA is ensuring data consistency, scalability, and flexibility in development. This approach introduces new ways of thinking about performance, non-persistent data handling, and user interaction — requiring smart design choices and close collaboration with stakeholders.
In this session, we’ll walk through how we built one of the first stateless Mendix apps in this landscape, the considerations we made, and the lessons we’ve learned along the way.

Part 2: Maintainability vs. Performance — What’s Your Developer Style?
In a playful quiz, we’ll dive into everyday Mendix dilemmas to reveal your developer mindset. Are you maintainability-first or performance-driven? Share, compare, and get inspired by others' approaches.

Dinner
Two diner options are being served from 17:45 - 18:45h. Both options are also available as vegetarian options.

Parking
The Valcon office is situated at Leidsche Rijn central area. It is a short walk from train station Utrecht Leidsche Rijn. If coming by car there are ample parking spots available in the parking garage below the Jumbo foodmarket.

Entrance
Please enter the Valcon office from street level, not from the parking garage. A clear meetup banner and host will be there to register and welcome you into our office.

Join us for a Widget Development Meetup organized by Mendix at our Rotterdam office!

While Mendix excels as a low-code platform for rapid application development, there are scenarios where we need to extend beyond the standard UI components. This is where pluggable React widgets come into play, bridging the gap between Mendix’s low-code environment and fancy designs from designers.

Creating React widgets for Mendix presents unique challenges as it requires understanding both the Mendix ecosystem and React development paradigms. We need to consider best practices on how these custom components interact with Mendix’s runtime, handle data flow between the low-code and code-based environments, and maintain them across Mendix version updates.
