Many fathers ask the same question in frustration, exhaustion, or helplessness:
“Why doesn’t my child listen to me?”
Sometimes the louder we become, the further our children seem to drift away. Yet parenting experts suggest that yelling is often not a parenting strategy, but an emotional response born from overwhelm, stress, impatience, and accumulated pressure. Research and clinical observations increasingly point toward an uncomfortable truth: children may comply out of fear in the moment, but repeated shouting can slowly erode emotional safety, trust, and connection. [1]
Sometimes, maybe, the question "Why Doesn’t My Kid Listen to Me?“ should be "What kind of father did I learn to become?”
This is not a parenting seminar.
Just men reflecting honestly on fatherhood, responsibility and the difficult work of learning how to stay connected to the people we love most.
Sometimes being heard begins with learning how to listen.
