About us
A regular gathering for men to engage in thoughtful conversation. We meet in person for group discussions based on a topic that allows for introspection with a philosophical edge (e.g., uncertainty, purpose, perseverance, death). This group was founded offline through organic interactions and a began with a collective effort to build it. Note that because the group started before we joined Meetup, event attendance may undercount who’s actually involved.
Who this is for?
- Men who are interested in self-reflection, critical thinking, and facing inconvenient truths.
How it works
- Each session centers on one topic. Everyone gets space to share what it means to them, and the rest of us listen and ask questions. It’s less about swapping opinions and more about hearing what the topic is actually like for you.
Ground rules
- Respect differing perspectives. Seek first to understand, then to be understood.
- Questions over advice. We lean toward listening and asking questions rather than telling people what to do.
- Confidentiality. What’s said here stays here.
Is this a fit?
This isn’t a casual hangout or group therapy. If you want thoughtful conversation with others who value honesty, we’d like to meet you.
To join: join our newcomer group on WhatsApp, and let us know you are interested. Space is limited, so contact us as soon as possible. If you have issues with WhatsApp, you can message me directly through Meetup.

Freedom and Responsibility: Men’s Discussion
Location not specified yetNobody handed you an instruction manual for life. Are you actively writing one, or pretending you don’t have to?
For our next gathering, we’re starting with freedom, one of four “ultimate concerns” from existential psychology. It’s easy to say we’re free. It’s harder to look at where we’re using that freedom deliberately, where we’re handing it off to habit, expectation, or other people, and what it costs us either way.
Questions we may explore
- Where in your life are you writing the rules, and where are you following ones you never chose?
- What would you do differently if you fully accepted that the choice is yours?
- Where does freedom feel more like a burden than a gift?
You don’t need to answer all of these. Bring whatever is true for you right now.
How the evening works
- We open with a short introduction to the group and its ground rules.
- We have a facilitator, but generally allow a free form discussion.
- We close with a brief wrap-up. No homework and no pressure to share more than you want to.
Ground rules
- Respect perspectives that differ from yours.
- No unsolicited advice and no “I’m sorry.” We respond with curiosity and acknowledgment.
- What’s shared here stays here.
Who should come?
Men who want honest conversation, not small talk. No background in psychology or philosophy is needed, just a willingness to be honest with yourself and with the group.Location
