About us
## Here you’ll find two things:
Community - men coming together to share a bit of their story and some laughs.
Experience - Adventures and skills that will remind you of who you are on your best day.
No cringy icebreakers, no awkward ‘introduce yourself’ moments and no pressure to talk.
We’re an outdoor group so we’ll be using some of Scotland’s magnificent landscape for campfire sessions, bushcraft skills and wild-camping.
Age, orientation, race and ability aren't factors here. You won’t need experience or a ton of expensive kit, and you don't have to be super-fit. If you're man looking for outdoor adventures, new perspectives and new friends then you're qualified and we need you with us.
None of this can be done online, what we’ll be doing requires a bigger canvas and fortunately we have one!
Welcome to Mens Outdoor Group.
FAQ
How come your events are listed as free but include a payment link?
That's because I don't want to run Meetup's subscription model which does not allow payments for individual events. I like people to be free to deal in or out as they choose.
Can women join?
Sorry, no. There are a great many outdoor communities for mixed groups and women. There are practically none for men.
Am I too old?
You're not.
Do I need to be fit?
You don't. If you have concerns about some of the things we're doing then please be in touch.
We're not running Meetup's subscription model here so all events are charged individually and I use Stripe for this.

Coffee in the forest
Braeval Forest, FK8 3UY, Stirling, GBCoffee in the forest
£10.00 Payable with StripeWe're going to head out into the trees, put up a shelter, light a fire, hang the kettle over it and make coffee.
While we're there we'll look at various techniques for safely lighting and maintaining a campfire, and we'll also look at using an axe, knife and saw to gather and prep the firewood.
After that we can just talk, no agenda, no awkward icebreakers or cringy introductions. If you'd rather just sit and listen that's absolutely cool!
Please come in seasonally appropriate clothing and be ready for a 25 min walk in to the site.
We're using Braeval Forest, just outside Aberfoyle where there is a decent sized car park.
Don't have transport? Message me and we'll sort you out with a lift share.
Any other questions then please be in touch

Campfire, coffee and a dip in Loch Lomond
Milarrochy Bay, Milarrochy Bay, Glasgow G63 0AL, UK, Glasgow, GBCampfire, coffee and dip in Loch Lomond
£10.00 payable via stripe
We'll meet at Milarochy Bay on the bonny bonny banks of Loch Lomond (pls see map )where we'll light a fire and hang a big tarp to keep us dry if its raining. Then we'll head into the loch for a quick dip.
After that we'll coffee up and enjoy a chat and some craik round the fire. Its a beautiful place and quite quiet at this time of year.
Cold water, particularly during the darker months, can do wonders for your general state of wellbeing and outlook.
Which may sound nuts but there's a ton of research to back it up.
Some things to know:
By 'a quick dip' I mean just that. There will be no bravado and no prizes for staying in the longest! If this is your first time trying this, then just getting past your knees is an achievement. If you'd rather not go in, thats fine, there'll be no pressure. The most important aspect here is some dudes coming together for coffee and a campfire.
It will feel cold. Please bring plenty of warm gear to change into afterwards as well as towel, shorts and some old trainers.
I'll bring coffee, cups, kettle firewood etc. If you want to bring cake or biscuits you'll be doubly welcome!
We are a friendly group and welcome all men. If you don't have transport please use the Whattsapp link below to arrange lift share, we'll get you sorted out.
As always, payment is through Stripe via the link above

The Retreat
Rowardennan Lodge Youth Hostel, By Drymen, Rowardennan, Glasgow G63 0AR, UK, Rowardennan, GBMens Outdoor Group: The Retreat
29th - 31st Jan '27 - £500.00. Visit our website for full details and payment. This is a men’s weekend retreat in Scotland’s Trossachs National Park and we'll have exclusive use of the Rowardennan Lodge Hostel.
It will be a chance to exist side by side with nature and appreciate some magnificent scenery, cook some traditional food over a campfire, learn a few ancient and modern outdoor skills, dip in the cold waters of the loch, learn some primal strength techniques and do a few miles on the trail.
Its also an opportunity to just relax; to feel the wind on your face, to breathe the scent of a pine forest, to see a distant horizon and to look up at the stars in a big sky.
Lastly it's a chance to enjoy something modern men often lack - community.
No gongs, no robes, no role play, no ceremonies. So why are we doing this midwinter in Scotland when we could be in Ibiza?
As men we were designed and built to function and thrive in harsh environments. Scotland’s magnificent natural heritage has the potential to make us physically stronger, more confident, more productive and readier to go the distance to get the things we really want. It also reminds us that no amount of connections on social media will ever replace a few solid companions round the campfire.
