The Body Knows Before We Do
Details
An experiential workshop on body awareness, emotions and relationships
Have you ever become defensive before understanding why? Felt your shoulders tighten during a conversation? Said yes while feeling yourself pull away?
Our bodies often respond before we consciously recognize what we feel. Learning to notice those moments can help us understand our reactions and choose how to respond.
Join the School of Integrated Life Sciences (SILS) for three hours of guided movement, reflection and practical exploration in a small group.
What you’ll explore
- Recognize your body’s signals: Notice how posture, breathing, tension and movement reflect what you’re experiencing.
- Understand emotional reactions: Explore the space between feeling irritated, anxious or uncomfortable and acting on it.
- Notice familiar patterns: Recognize when you withdraw, accommodate, seek control or become defensive.
- Create room for choice: Develop awareness that supports clearer communication, boundaries and more deliberate responses.
What to expect
Through guided movement, observation, interaction and psychological reflection, you’ll explore how you occupy space, respond to others and experience emotions in your body.
There is no perfect posture or “correct” emotional response. The invitation is to notice your patterns and discover other possibilities.
No previous experience is required. Participation in individual exercises and sharing personal experiences are always voluntary.
Who is it for?
Anyone curious about their reactions, body awareness and relationship patterns, and interested in bringing greater awareness into everyday communication.
