Tour of Kitfox Aircraft, Homedale Airport
Details
Join a select few participants (most with an aviation connection) on this escorted tour of a small business that has been in Idaho for over 42 years, but is world-renowned with customers in 43 countries. Known for its characteristic folding wing, this experimental aircraft is purchased by pilots and those who like to build for resale.
Except for the engine, Kitfox manufactures all parts of the kit onsite in 5 buildings at the Homedale Airport. They have two programs that include selling the kit and providing technical support or a factory-assist purchase where the owner comes in four times (1 week each time) and shares in the build process (51% as required by FAA for amateur-built).
We will tour their weld shop, parts department, wing department, and fiberglass department while being able to ask lots of questions about experimental aircraft and applicable FAA requirements.
TRIVIA: The Kitfox is often credited with sparking the modern bush-plane revolution. Its ability to land on short, unprepared strips (beaches, ridgelines, or gravel bars) is why it’s so world-renowned.
