Tour of Republic Services Recycling Center, Boise

Details
Our host has been gracious enough to increase the group size. Please keep your reservation current so that we can allow everyone a chance to attend.
Ever wonder what happens to your recyclables after you place them in your home or office recycling container?
If curious, then join a lucky 18 people who will tour our local Republic Services Recycling Center & Transfer Station to see the process from start to finish.
We will meet in the upstairs visitors room to meet our host and pick up our PPE (hard hats, protective eye wear and high visibility vests).
You will see the recycling process from start to finish (primarily indoors). Mixed recyclables (paper, cardboard, metal cans, plastics) come in on trucks and are dumped on the floor. The material is pushed into a pit and fed up a conveyor belt to be sorted. You will see optical sorters, screen sorters, magnetic sorters, and eddy current separators. Of course, you will see the dedicated employees do some manual sorting, and eddy currents (think Willy Wonka Factory).
IMPORTANT: Participants must wear long pants and closed-toed shoes.
