Who is up for a hiking adventure? Plan to hike or catch a side-by-side shuttle at the WMA up to the project site near the Adelmann Mine.

Help restore wildlife habitat on the Boise River Wildlife Management Area by volunteering with Idaho Department of Fish & Game (IDF&G) to plant seedlings.

We will be working along stream and in wetter mountain shrub pockets in gentle to moderately steep terrain. We will be planting potted willows, cottonwoods, choke cherries, snowberries, and golden currants.

No experience required; a brief training tutorial will be provided by Fish and Game staff. Expect the project to go into the afternoon.

What IDF&G provides
Training is provided and crew leaders will be there to help. Fish and Game will provide all the tools and equipment (planting bar, shovels, buckets, and trowels) required for planting and will provide used leather planting gloves. Bring your own knee pad(s) and/or other favorite planting tools if you'd like.

What you should bring
The weather can vary drastically in early spring.
You will need to bring a sack lunch and water for the day. Bring a day pack to hold your food and extra layers.

BACKGROUND: The Valley Fire rapidly scorched 10,000 acres across some of the most heavily used mule deer winter range on the Boise Front. We need your continued help to rehabilitate the landscape for wildlife. You will be part of a multi-year, multi-pronged effort to restore habitat on the Boise River Wildlife Management Area.
