2/27/22..what a blur & a feeling of joy I take from last nights get together..All of you who brought yourselfs and the gold that shines in you..thank you.. I was just thinking, that I never know what will show up at these...people ask me "what type of music do you play" "what instruments are involved" "dancing? chanting? singing what"?
Well the answer I got right now is the same I've kinda been saying.."I don't know what will happen, what will be played, who will be playing" But what I do know, is it will be a Music Making Party and whatever is that comes out will never be done again..true improv..and what a beautiful thing that is... Do you care to join us? Well sign up, there's no cost, obligation, commitment nor will anyone be watching you or telling you what you need to do...the only thing that will happen is you'll get a notice when the next Merry Music Making thing will happen... :) Tom
I'm opening up my yard and home to anyone and everyone who wants to get together and make music.. What that looks like I don't know exactly and it could easily change from get-together to get-together, but what I'm promoting is a improv jam, where everyone is welcome, people who have musical skills or not...beginners are welcome! dancers, singers, fire people, drummers, flutists, saxaphones, homemade instruments, guitars, etc...plugged in or not..who knows where it will go. I've been a member of a vocal improv group, singportland, which I loved and a member of Community Jams and they used to have a improv day once a week and also active with Akayi drum circle... I don't care I just wanta play music and make music and the improv and the free flow is where I tend to gravitate. I have no real skills, I can't read music, I can barely play a few cords on a guitar, tap on the keyboard, or beat on a drum, but know not much, and will sing and chant to whatever... I'm a live one and I'm looking for others to be fully alive with me with a willingness to bring it..we all have gifts and i'd love to see yours..
Now with the virus a lot of things have shut down even though some of the groups I've been in are starting up, and I'll continue to be a part of them but honestly I tired of masks, of not seeing people's faces, and living in a world where it seems we try to avoid getting to close to others. I've had my shots, and seeing I'm putting this on at my home, I can kinda make the rules, and I am not willing to wear a mask at my home. I'm asking for everyone to be personal responsible for themselves, if you're sick please do not show up, if you think you may have been exposed do not show up, and if you want to wear a mask or not wear that is totally up to you, but I will not and will not require it.
This is a free gig, I am not charging, and I am also not taking responsibility for the actions or happenings of anyone who comes. Be safe, be smart, don't come here to get plastered, respect others and let's have some fun. My hope is it will be outside, at least the first time, but depending on weather and who shows up we will see.. I have a fire pit, I have a couple of mics and amps, a keyboard, some drums and I welcome others to play them and of course bring you're own instruments, mics, amps stuff.. it may just be a drum circle it may be more, but whatever it is hopefully it will be fun.
