Have I got Mews for you

A leisurely walk through some of the beautiful Mews in the City of Westminster, they were once stables and houses for carriages and coachmen before cars were invented.

Interestingly the word "Mews" comes from King Richard II's hawks Mews which was built at the site where the national gallery is presently located, it was used to house the hunting hawks while they mew " shedding old feathers and producing new ones". The building was destroyed by fire, a new one was built and used as a stable and kept the word "Mews" as part of its name. Strangely the plural of Mews is also Mews.

We will meet outside Green Park Underground station near Diana Fountain ( also known as statue of goddess Diana), will start the walk at 7PM and finish around 8:20PM in the vicinity of Regent's Park Underground Station.

Optional pub at the end of the walk for a drink and a chat where everyone is welcome to join.
