This is the third in the series of Mountain Fitness Walks, starting in Goring-by-Sea and finishing in Shoreham-by-Sea. The walk has a several undulations and takes in the iron age hill fortresses of Chanctonbury Ring and Cissbury Ring. Throughout the walk, there are a number of good viewpoints over the South Downs National Park and towards the coast.
This walk has a total ascent of 810 metres and mileage of 22 miles. To cover the distance in daylight hours, a good pace will be taken.
There will be a picnic lunch stop en route, so please bring a packed lunch. Please also bring plenty of water and snacks. Pub stop at the end.
Travel: Take 08:46 from London Victoria (Clapham Junction 08:53; East Croydon 09:04); arr. Goring-by-Sea at 10:19.
Buy return to Goring-by-Sea.
Grading: Strenuous.
