Hiking For Miles: Edenbridge to Crowborough via Ashdown ... (20 miles/Strenuous)

Details

Metropolitan Walkers is part of the Ramblers, Britain's walking charity. All welcome for 3 'taster' walks, after which please join the Ramblers - info on the Met Walkers website

A brisk walk through the leafy rolling hills of the High Weald, including a significant part of it through Ashdown Forest. A reasonably undulating walk with a total ascent of 700 metres. The lunch stop will be at the village of Forest Row at around 11 miles distance where there are local shops and a couple of cafes - bearing in mind the start time, this is likely to be after 2pm. Pub at the end of walk - it is then a further mile to the railway station (included in total distance).

Please bring a packed lunch.

Transport: Take the 10:07 from London Bridge (East Croydon: 10:22) arrive at Edenbridge Town at 10:45. For anyone travelling from Kent or Surrey / Sussex, an option to avoid London is the 10:04 from Tonbridge or the 10:00 from Redhill, these then arrive at 'Edenbridge' station at 10:18 and 10:16 respectively, and it is just under a mile walk to 'Edenbridge Town' station - passing a Greggs!

Buy a return to Crowborough. Meet just outside the front of the main station building at Edenbridge Town station.

Grading: Strenuous.
For an explanation of the gradings, please see the FAQ - please consider both the length and grade when choosing a walk.

Finish point: Crowborough
