What we’re about
Since 1997, we have gathered weekly to explore the wonders of NJ, PA, NY, MD, and DE. The purpose of this group is to promote trail systems in the NY/Philadelphia metropolitan area, as well as other areas of natural and historic significance, through long day hikes. Most hikes are approximately 15 to 20 miles. This group is for people for whom a short hikes and commonly posted places are not enough; people who want to quench the thirst for experience and diversity, and to learn more of the amazing area in which we live, and to do so with a diverse group of people
Here's a promo video about the group by Tom Petrucci

See all- French Creek HikePhoenixville Schuylkill River Trail Parking Area, Phoenixville, PA
Join us for this interesting point to point hike focusing on the French Creek!
The hike will NOT be at all within French Creek State Park! Instead, we will be using a budding trail system that is partially in place, but also requires a little bit of road walking on unconnected sections. A few bits will always be road walk, but they are unpaved and quite lovely.
Some of the route of this hike will be on the long forgotten "Sow Bell Railroad" right of way that ran between Kimberton and St. Peters.
After we meet at the Ashland Street trailhead on the Schuylkill River Trail in Phoenixville, we will shuttle with as few vehicles as possible to our starting point, near where we left off on our recent Horse-Shoe Trail hike.
This time, we'll shift away from the HST again, and focus on the creek itself and closest possible greenways.
We'll trace some of what we did the last time to the north meadows and though Warwick Park, then through Coventryville, Pughtown, Wilson's Corner, and Kimberton to name a few. We'll pass through and by covered bridges, stone bridges, truss bridges, old mills, and more.
Some of the trail sections might be a bit rough or muddy. Some are very well mowed, and a few bits are paved.
Several maps cover what we will be walking including these:
