Union Canal Trace Hike

Details
Join us for this splendid hike tracing the Swatara Valley as closely as we can to the historic route of the Union Canal.
The canal has been abandoned since 1885, and much is now private land, but this time we'll be following back roads and new and old trails tracing on or close to its route between Middletown and Hershey PA.
We'll meet at Susquehanna Street Park in Middletown where the Union Canal connected to the Pennsylvania Canal, and then shuttle to the starting point in as few vehicles as possible, then walk back 16 or 17 miles.
We'll follow pleasant back roads along the creek and through farms from Sand Beach through Union Deposit, and then southwest. We'll pass through at least nine different parks including a couple of nice little sections of greenway.
