Birdsboro Big Woods Loop Hike

Details
Join us for this roughly 15 mile loop hike that will feature all sorts of things and multiple different parks in the greater Hopewell Big Woods.
We'll meet at 9 AM just to the east of Birdsboro at Union Meadows East, Douglassville.
From there, we'll begin the loop hike, which will be the trail out of the lot and out along the Schuylkill a bit. We'll weave back around and then follow the towpath of the Schuylkill Navigation on the Schuylkill River Trail.
This trail will take us to downtown Birdsboro.
From there, we will parallel the former Reading Railroad southbound. It is still active as a spur at first, but the parallel old road becomes abandoned after a municipal park.
We'll follow this route into the Birdsboro Waters Preserve, and take a couple of side paths to ponds before we make our way uphill, past one of the reservoirs, and then back down to the trail system of French Creek State Park.
We'll weave through the state park on Six Penny Trail and Kalmia Trail, follow a couple of back roads, and then the Big Woods Trail that descends back to the Schuylkill River Trail, which we will use to close our loop.
The only spot for any supplies along the way is in Birdsboro where we pass a few stores about three miles in. Other than that, it's mostly woods this time.
