The Art of Photography Miami (Field Workshops)

You’re invited to join us in this great “First Sunday of the Month” Dream Car Classic Hollywood by Cobra Joe, Productions, an interesting display of vehicles (cars / trucks: vintage classics, muscle, custom, etc.) for visual enjoyment and photography opportunity. These masterpieces are contained within two city blocks along Hollywood Blvd. providing a great opportunity to create beautiful images and expand your photo abilities, knowledge, and portfolio work. Come ready to practice specifics of street, architecture, and documentary photography during our MeetUp workshop event...

The workshop leader / instructor (Rafael) taught photography classes at all levels (including digital editing software) for Broward County’s “My Community" School and has personally led field photography classes for over 15 years through Broward and Miami-Dade counties and will be available all along this shoot for specific tips, technical consultation, and photography information to capture better images and make this a memorable learning experience - -This workshop is a “One-of-a-Kind” technically supported photoshoot with attention to practical learning for which there is a $10 fee.

LOOKS LIKE IT’LL BE GREAT FOR OUR PHOTOSHOOT… Temperatures in the low-80s with about 76% cloud cover, some wind at 18 mph and almost no chance of rain at 3%.

WE’LL MEET ON THE CORNER OF HOLLYWOOD BLVD & SOUTH 20 AVENUE AT 10:00 AM to review and discuss the event, collect the $10 MeetUp fee, exchange technical information such as camera settings, how to approach the scenery -I have a handout with many ideas / pointers. We’ll also talk about the best photo opps and as always, I'll stay with the group to provide camera settings guidelines, framing approaches, anticipating photo opportunities, and any general photography-related concern.

There is plenty of inexpensive paid parking (app or machine) on side streets to the north and south and don’t forget to charge your camera battery, clean camera / lens, check memory card, and gather other items you may want to use, such as ND filters to allow lowering shutter speed and able to set low ISO settings.

I always recommend packing light so you’re comfortable and can move around easily… you may want to bring water but there are plenty of cafeterias in the area. A tripod to steady your camera for long exposures can be comfortably used in this event.

PACK YOUR BEST DISPOSITION AND BE READY TO CAPTURE GREAT IMAGES

You are invited to join our group and practice the art of photography in one of the most interesting settings in South Florida for great street, architecture, and documentary photography. We'll start in the Miami Beach Holocaust Memorial and continue to Lincoln Road.

Be ready to practice anticipating (Henri Cartier-Bresson’s) the “decisive moment” of street photography AND/OR how to plan and compose for static elements (Holocaust Sculpture / Art Deco and Miami Modern -MiMo buildings) before pressing the camera shutter to capture a great image.

We’ll meet at the Holocaust Memorial (1945 Meridian Avenue) in the NE corner of Meridian Avenue and 19th Street and from there we’ll walk over to Lincoln Road (passing by the Miami Beach Botanical Garden and Convention Center) and the, one of the most thought-after tourist areas in Miami Beach.

Note: There is paid parking along the street -close to the Holocaust Memorial, or two blocks away at the Garage Building south of there at 640 17 Street, this parking building being closer to Lincoln Road.
