We host a variety of events, primarily in the Royal Oak and Ferndale area, ranging from yoga and meditation workshops to a monthly talent show, African drumming, bike rides, and more. Our keystone event is our Local Variety Show, during which a talented lineup of performance artists and musicians share their talents with our community.

Learn to Play West African Djembe Music

Join us at Centennial Commons in Royal Oak for a co-creative afternoon of rhythm, community, and traditional West African djembe music.
This interactive lesson is facilitated by passionate students who have studied with experienced teachers in both the U.S. and Guinea, West Africa.
You'll learn:- Basic djembe playing techniques
- Traditional West African rhythms
- The oral histories and cultural context behind the music
- How to play together as a percussive ensemble
No experience necessary. Beginners are welcome.
Whether you're new to drumming or already have experience, this event offers a fun and welcoming environment to connect through rhythm and community### Cost

Third Space Comedy at Urbanrest
Urbanrest Brewing Company, 2615 Wolcott St, Ferndale, MI, USLocal Variety Co. presents Third Space Comedy — a monthly stand-up event in the Taproom at Urbanrest Brewing Company in Ferndale, MI.
Each show features local comedians in an intimate space filled with barrels, string lights, and good vibes. The “third space” is the place between work and home where you feel seen and celebrated for who you are. For us, it’s a celebration of comedy, creativity, community, and connection — and you’re invited.
