- Walk for the Climate/Sun Day/Draw the LineBoone County Clerk, Columbia, MO
Progress on climate action is stalled at the Federal Level. Now is the time to get loud, rally for more renewable energy and more climate action policies at all levels of goverment and take constructive actions. Join this rally and/or 5K Walk (3.2 miles) and show your support. You can attend just the rally or just the walk. It's up to you.
This is a non-partisan event and will be a peaceful demonstration. A permit has been obtained for Boone County Courthouse Plaza.
Our goal is to bring together allies working for climate action, for peace, for social, economic, racial, and gender justice, and for a constellation of related concerns, as well as inviting the participation of concerned individuals. The rally will include speakers, music, tabling by co-sponsoring groups and general solidarity.
We are living in a climate emergency that requires urgent action now. We recognize, however, that there are multiple crises impacting people around the world and the environment we all share.
Mid-Missouri Sierra Club is cosponsoring this event with Mid-Missouri Peaceworks, who is the lead organizer. Registration begins at 1 pm, the rally begins at 1:30 pm, the walk will kick off around 2 pm. There will be music and organization tables to check out during registration and their will be speakers during the rally. .
This event is aligned with two national mobilizations happening the same weekend: Sun Day and Draw the Line
