Hands-Off Day of Action/Save our Democracy - Rally and Peaceful Demonstration

The EPA, climate action, environmental justice, enforcement of environmental law and the regulations themselves are all under attack. If you would like to take a stand, consider attending an event somewhere in the country on Sat. April 5. Lots of other issues will be represented as well.

Where: Boone County MO Courthouse, 705 E. Walnut Street, Columbia, MO, The weather forecast has improved and the rain location has been cancelled. Please bring an umbrella or rain gear just in case. We expect the event to end earlier than originally scheduled.

No experience necessary. Your physical presence helps deliver the message to the decision makers.

ENOUGH! Millions of us find the Trump-Musk-Vance Coup unacceptable and, in communities across the country (find a location), we will be demonstrating, rallying, etc. The Mid-Missouri Solidarity Network is joining our allies in the NAACP to put together a rally that addresses all the issues listed below and more. We invite and encourage you to join us. Sierra Club Mid-Missouri Group is a member of the Mid-Missouri Solidarity Network.

You might want to bring a folding chair as there is no seating on the square (south) side of the courthouse. You might also want to bring an umbrella or rain jacket, as there's a significant chance of rain, as of Monday's forecast.

Just some of what the coup-makers have done so far:
* Massive layoffs of essential workers in many fields;
*Opening up drilling in our public lands
* Cuts in funding for numerous programs that regulate corporations and protect consumers;
* Attacks on the Earth—climate, water, air, etc.;
* Steps to dismantle what remains of our social safety net—Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid;
* Attacks on education, renewable energy, a free press, bodily autonomy, LGBTQA+ rights and more:
* Steps toward mass deportation, including the detention of legal residents, based upon political views and what should be protected speech;
* An aggressive foreign policy, including threats to annex neighbors, including Canada, etc.
* Continued increases in the already bloated military budget;
* Launching multiple trade wars that threaten to bring down the global economy:
* Steps to provide massive tax cuts to the wealthy while increasing taxes on the working class;
* The public embrace of White Nationalism and Christian Nationalism;
* The repeated violation of the rule of law and the weaponization of the the judicial system;
* The transfer of power to an un-elected and un-confirmed co-president whose vast holdings lead to multiple conflicts of interest. judicial system;
