Hike Smith Creek, Mark Twain National Forest
Details
What: The hike covers approximately 6.1 miles; moderately difficult with water crossings, rocky terrain, 200 foot elevation gain (in places 15-25% grade). Awesomely scenic with gargantuan cliffs, amazing geologic features, and a wilderness ‘aura’.
What to Bring: sturdy hiking boots, water, lunch or snacks, hiking stick (if desired). Be prepared for variable conditions with raingear as the weather forecast dictates. Pants are recommended
Why: To experience the beauty and health benefits of trails in the vicinity of Columbia, MO; to be an advocate for our wild & scenic resources; to re-create with like-minded folks who love hiking in the Ozark Highlands.
