About us
Welcome to Bayside Book Club! We're a group for women in their mid-30s and beyond who love smart, character-driven fiction by female authors. Think Lessons in Chemistry, The Road to Tender Hearts, Big Swiss and Remarkably Bright Creatures — books that are funny, thoughtful, occasionally weird and always worth talking about.
Open to locations other than the Foster City Library, we meet the last Tuesday of the month to talk about contemporary fiction rather than romance or literary heavyweights, with plenty of memorable characters, family dynamics, friendships and life's unexpected twists. Whether you're a lifelong reader or just trying to make more time for books, you'll find thoughtful discussions, good company and a chance to meet fellow book lovers in the area.
If your ideal night involves a great novel and a lively conversation, we'd love to have you join us.

Lady Tremaine
Burlingame Library, 480 Primrose Rd, Burlingame, CA, USThe August selection is Lady Tremaine by Rachel Hochhauser (thank you, Kay, for the suggestion!). It is a feminist reimagining of Cinderella told from the perspective of the infamous stepmother. Twice widowed and struggling to protect her daughters' future, Lady Tremaine is portrayed not as a one-dimensional villain but as a grieving mother navigating impossible choices, class pressures, and sacrifice, challenging the traditional fairy tale's version of "happily ever after."

The Collected Regrets of Clover
Burlingame Library, 480 Primrose Rd, Burlingame, CA, USSeptember's selection is*The Collected Regrets of Clover.* It explores some pretty big questions about life, regret and what it really means to make the most of the time we have. It follows Clover, a death doula who spends her life helping others but has a hard time truly living herself. It's thoughtful, funny and ultimately hopeful, and I thought it would make for a great discussion.
