GO: Marvellous Micropub Megacrawl
Details
GO: Marvellous Micropub Megacrawl (Provisionally 21/10/2023)
Travel:
This year, the location will be Newcastle Under Lyme (Stoke) where there is apparently now the highest concentration of shiny new micropub alehouses in the Midlands. The 10:01 Birmingham New Street train takes only 47 minutes to Stoke, or there is a coach option.

Mainly we will walk between pubs, though may catch one bus where the distance between pubs is about a mile. Those marked (m*) are Multi-cask Micropubs, and those marked (r*) are reserve venues only.
Foul Weather Alternative Itinerary
In foul weather, we have the option to visit the first few pubs listed then instead catch a 3 or 98 bus to Burslem where 5 great alternative pubs are located next to each other. This is just as a contingency.
- Bursley Alehouse, Wedgwood Place, ST6 4ED (m*)
- Duke William, St Johns Square, ST6 3AJ (food)
- Johny's, St John's Square, ST6 3AH (m*)
- Hog Noggins, Market Place, ST6 4AR (m*)

Where to Meet:
The Wheatsheaf, first pub mentioned at the start time for the event. This being a Wetherspoons (the only one we're visiting), it opens early, so pre-11am arrival is possible if wanting food (breakfast is served until 11am). Last arrivals 11:40 at which time we will sup up and move on.

Flexibility:
We may adjust the exact running order out of necessity, or to maintain flexibility and to discourage joining and leaving at odd times, which should maintain the social dynamic of a fully-attended event, and avoid effort and disruption looking for people repeatedly.
Trainfares
The standard anytime day return ticket is £20 for one person, and may be booked in advance or on the day. Slightly cheaper if travelling from Lichfield Trent Valley or Wolverhampton Stations.

Not bad but prices are often cheaper nearer the time, or better still, there may be cheaper group tickets if several of us arrive at New Street together.
Viability:
This event will proceed subject to numbers committed to attending. We do not allow no-shows and withdrawals from events in the last 24 hours please, so please RSVP courteously and accurately. Attendance guideline is that this event should have 10 to 20 people, and will either limit numbers or not host (or postpone) with anything wildly different.
