Day trip crusing on Traditional Thames Riverboat

'Lady Lucy' is a restored classic wooden motor boat built in 1946. She is moored at Hurley on the river Thames.

The cruise: day trip on this attractive boat, we could be cruising either towards Windsor or Reading, with up to 10 people who simply sign up on Eventbrite. A cruise on the boat is absolutely FREE, The owner/skipper, Henry Tapper - welcomes you on board. Great if you could bring along some food and drink, maybe a picnic & rug - do boating in a traditional & stylish way !

Day trips may go as far as Cliveden to the West and Sonning in the East, subject to time & weather conditions. The boat has its own galley, inside cabin seating, an electric flush toilet & shower. In the summer you can swim off the side of the boat. Lady Lucy was built traditionally from Mahogany in 1946 by William Osborne of Chichester, and won the classic boat of the year in 2007.

Clothing & Gear : dress appropriately & sensibly for going boating. wear deck shoes or flat-soled, non-marking shoes. suitable boat clothing - wind & waterproof jacket (its usually cooler on water, maybe windy & cold be wet). Equally it maybe very warm - a stylish boating hat, sunglasses & sunscreen could be needed ! You must be reasonably fit & able on your feet, for getting around the boat on the river. A very stable & riverworthy boat - but it moves about & decks can be slippery if wet! Contact the organiser, who has many years boating experience if in doubt for any advice.

Tickets: a suggested donation of £10 pp., but this is entirely a voluntary contribution, towards the boats running costs. Limited number of tickets & will go quickly !

Meeting point: 9.30 at Peter Freebody boatyard, where there is ample parking. you can have a nice cup of tea or coffee beforehand. The boat cruise departs at 10.00 prompt. Arriving any later, the boat will have departed & you will certainly miss the boat ! If not staying locally, allow 1.5 - 2hrs travel, locating & parking time from central midlands area.

Boating weekend: This being the first event, over 2 days of a glorious boating weekend on the river Thames. With the Thames trad. boat rally at Henley on Thames sun 16th Jul. If planning on attending both events, book your Fri & Sat night accommodation asap. Some of the group are staying at a good value hotel in nearby Maidenhead.
