Full day canal towpath cycle ride around Birmingham area for those who are experienced and fit enough, and have the right kit for repairs.
The route is self leading, so no particular need to have a dedicated navigator. Though the group will need to select and agree a few pub/cafe stops along the way, and have maps available just in case.
Logistics
Meet: Outside Sealife Centre, Brindley Place
Time: 10:30 sharp
Entry: Free (bring own bike and kit)
Attendance: Between 4 and 10. Event will be cancelled or waitlisted if numbers vary significantly.
Hosting: Collective among those going
Route
1. Take Grand Union Canal (north east) for 1 mile
2. Take Birmingham & Faseley Canal (left) after going under A38M
3. Turn left onto Tame Valley Canal at Spaghetti Junction
4. Keep left after passing under M6/M5 interchange
5. After passing A41 at Ocker Hill, turn left onto Walsall Canal
6. Turn left again when joining Birmingham Canal near Oldbury
7. Continue along B'ham Canal passing Smethwick back to the start
