Middle Tennessee Humanists host a local speaker every month. This month we have Dr. E. Shane Talbott, presenting on his dissertation "Improving Faculty Collaboration Within and Across Networks".

Dr. E. Shane Talbott earned a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Leadership and Learning in Organizations from Vanderbilt University. His researches focused on how effective faculty collaboration can occur across large organizations. While his research looked at a large community college system, the findings can be used to improve collaboration within any organization.

Dr. Talbott will share an overview of his findings with us today. He is eager to share with you how organizations can establish structures to give people space to collaborate effectively. He will also share how important it is for organizations not only to create the space for collaborations but to ensure that people feel psychologically safe to share and trust that their thoughts will be heard.

Dr. Talbott currently is the Dean of Mathematics and Science at Volunteer State Community College in Gallatin, TN. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry with a minor in Music from Centre College in Kentucky and a Master of Science in Chemistry from Auburn University. In his free time, Dr. Talbott sings in the first tenor section of Nashville in Harmony here in Nashville.
