MEET'CHA THERE!--Star Party hosted by Rose City Astronomers

Details
Join me for a star gazing party on the Clackamas Community College (CCC) campus in Oregon City, hosted by a local amateur astronomy club -- Rose City Astronomers (RCA).
RCA volunteers will set up telescopes on the College's athletic field and help participants locate items of interest in the night sky. Come with Qs -- they'll do their best to answer 'em! And, if you have a telescope, bring that, too!
Please read through all of the following carefully before RSVP'ing.
RSVP here with me at least 48 hours in advance, and we can coordinate how and where to meet up amongst the crowd.
'Hope to see you there!
-Jo / Finding Friends group organizer
NOTE!! Public viewings hosted by the Rose City Astronomers may be cancelled at the last minute due to weather conditions. CALL Rose City Astronomers' HOTLINE AFTER 3PM ON THE AFTERNOON OF THE VIEWING for confirmation and updates: 503/594-6044 ext. 1
If I learn the event is cancelled I'll update this posting, but please do not rely on me -- especially if you're traveling some distance -- plan to check for yourself!
This is an outdoor event on a sports field. Be advised and dress accordingly, including layered clothing & / or coats, and flat, solid shoes (no heels or flip flops!). Also, no flashlights...
DESCRIPTION FROM RCA's WEBSITE
The moon will be at first-quarter phase, but it will be very low in the sky and shouldn’t interfere too much with observing fainter objects. The start time is near the beginning of Nautical Twilight, where the brightest stars will be coming out and helping our volunteers navigate to the best double stars to start the night off with. As it gets darker, we will transition to bright star clusters, and then nebulae and perhaps the Andromeda Galaxy.
Visitors are encouraged to arrive early and enjoy the sunset as we set up our telescopes. No white lights, please; the ambient light will be enough to see by and find your way to the telescopes. Our volunteers will have red flashlights to guide you to the eyepiece. CCC has graciously turned off the streetlights surrounding the athletic field each year to help facilitate telescope observations.
DIRECTIONS
Clackamas Community College is located at 19600 Molalla Ave., Oregon City, near the intersection of Hwy 213 and Beavercreek Road, about three miles south of Interstate-205 (Exit 10).
The athletic field is close to the College's Environmental Learning Center, which is on the northeast edge of campus. The easiest route is to use the back entrance to the campus, off of Beavercreek Road. Take a right on Douglas Loop, and then another right onto Inskeep Drive. A sign for the Environmental Learning Center can be seen at its entrance -- the athletic fields are across the street (on the left). There is parking nearby.
