Franconia Notch, New Hampshire A bicycle and mellow hiking vacation during peak foliage in New Hampshire
I have mapped out rail trails such as the Presidential rail trail, Franconia Notch Recreation Path, Amonnusuuc Rail trail, The Sawyer River Rail Trail; I've researched some doable hikes that lead to massive water falls, walk around the flume gorge, Diana's Baths or to expansive views. The list goes on and on. If you want to take a days break take a ride on the Conway Scenic railroad a relaxing way to view the mountains and foliage.
The ride from Southern CT is 3.5 hours; we will pass a town called Lebanon which offers the longest rail trail in New Hampshire, -- we plan on enjoying a ride South to North, and, on the return, ride from North to South.
A car ride through the Kancamagus Scenic Byway is a delight, if you have never experienced you will be thrilled. I am- each and every time. There are many easily accessible paths to explore off the byway.
We are staying at the “Mittersill Alpine Resort” Franconia Notch.
