Are you a refugee or migrant activist in Europe?
Do you feel the need to amplify your voice?
Are you ready to break stereotypes about migration?

As refugees and migrants, we rarely have ownership over the narratives produced about us in public discourse.
During the project 'Owning My Story', we will challenge existing narratives on migration by ensuring self-representation and authorship in the shaping of these narratives.

By offering inclusive learning spaces where we use storytelling as a tool for advocacy, we will together reframe the stories told about us and reclaim the ownership of our realities.

Owning My Story is a project that uses creative methods such as storytelling as an empowering tool for self-advocacy and self-representation of migrants and refugees. The proposed activities are a blended mix of online and offline workshops, offering an inclusive space for migrant and refugee activists across Europe.

The following activities are planned:
6x Online Narrative Labs (25 January, 8 February, 14 March, 28 March, 11 April, 16 May)
1x Storytelling Lab in Finland (20-25 February 2024)
1x Storytelling Lab in the Netherlands (28 April - 3 May 2024)
1x Final Storytelling Performance in Brussels (3-5 May 2024)

The stories will be recorded and used for an online campaign in the run-up to the European elections in June 2024.
