What we’re about

Are you 45 or over. wanting to enlarge your social circle. develop solid friendships with genuine people, share laughter and stories and enjoy affordable actives mainly in your local area, then this group is for you!!

This group is all about building relationships. We are interested in our members having the opportunity to connect and create ongoing and meaningful social relationships whilst having a fun and interesting time.

So let's be clear - this is NOT a singles or dating group.

Members are encouraged to suggest activities and venues you would enjoy and/or to help in organising events. If you think it would be fun, most likely others will too.

Everyone is welcome - men, women, singles, couples and all nationalities.

***A FEW RULES***

Unfortunately, past experience has shown it necessary to create and enforce the following:

Fees - $1 per member at each meetup.

This contribution by each member will help pay the meet site costs.

Photographs - A member must have a personal photo attached to their profile - not a landscape, your grandkids or your dog.

No photo - no membership.

Please discuss with me if you have an issue with this.

After all, we do need to be able to recognise one another when meeting at a venue.

Behaviour - By joining you agree to treat other members with respect and tolerance and to refrain from all forms of negative behaviour and comments both written and verbal, intimidation, bullying, stalking, verbal abuse and foul language.

Meet-ups are to be a safe and relaxed environment and all members have the right to an enjoyable experience with this group.

First offence, you will be warned. If it happens again, your membership will be cancelled.

RSVP - As a common courtesy to all involved, please update your RSVP if you are no longer able to attend an event.

This allows the organiser to update bookings and others to attend if they are on a wait list.

It also helps get numbers righ with venues.  Some venues charge us if people don't turn up.  If that happens you will be required to reimburse that cost.

No Shows - If you RSVP yes to an event, and don't attend (without letting the organiser know), this will be considered a no show.

3 no-shows and your membership will be cancelled. If unable to attend an event at the last minute, you must contact the host or organiser by phone or text message.

Plus 1 - Some events will allow you to bring a friend along. You will see that on the RSVP.

If you bring a friend along to an event, it is your responsibility to ensure that they are age and behaviour appropriate for the group. If they misbehave, it is the same as you misbehaving.

If you bring the same friend to 2 events, then by the 3rd attendance they should be joining up as a member in their own right.

Group Participation - Members are expected to be participatory.

Now, I know that everyone has busy lives or might not like certain events or have other reasons for not attending events.

However, all members are expected to:

Visit the website at least once a month.
Attend an event at least once every 3 months.

There are a number of members who have not visited the website for over 2 or 3 months.  Many have not visited since joining.  I find it amazing that you would bother to join a group and then not go on the website to see what was happening.  To me, it suggests not much interest in making some new friends.

Even if you only attend events occasionally, you will be sure to meet some very nice people.

My own experience has been that I have met a number of lovely people, some who I can see having long term relationships with, even outside this group.

So come on socialites, make sure you join in, visit the website and come to some events. Otherwise you may find find that are no longer a member of the group.

If we haven't seen you in over 3 months and you have not at least visited the website either, it will be assumed that you are not interested in the group, and your membership will be cancelled.
