Benefits:

There are a ton of benefits. Daily training runs, weekly social gatherings, discounts at local running stores, Packer parties, beer and snacks every Wednesday after the evening run, movie nights, (did we mention that everything is free?), summer picnics, coached track workouts at Shorewood HS and the Pettit Center, indoor yoga & plyometric & pilates classes in the winter, trail runs on Sunday, a legendary all-night holiday party, banana awards, pub runs, Monday Medal, Oakleaf Trail cleanup service project, Meetup.com membership, parties, opportunity to join OMG Fall 50 / Ragnar / 5k / Beer Mile racing teams, couch to 5k training, marathon buildup runs year round, and 24x7 encouragement.

Membership: Annual dues are a measly $5 per year. That's less than you pay for coffee each day.

When to pay dues? Two Options...

1. Now! Make a commitment. If you pay now you're far more likely to show up for your first and second runs and feel like you're already part of the group. Some people need motivation to get off the couch, and paying $5 says that you're going to do it this time!

2. Later. Come to a run or two or seven and see if you like us. We don't mind. Some people are careful. Who wants to give $5 away needlessly anyways?

Ready to pay? Send dues payment including your name and email address using Venmo, Paypal (friends and family option, not business), Google Wallet, or Cash App / Square Cash to mke.run.group@gmail.com. Or send a check to Milwaukee Running Group, 1572 E Capitol Dr. Shorewood, WI 53211. If you live off the grid bring $5 to your next run and give it to Patrick, Clint, Veronica, or the host of the run. Dues cover Meetup.com fees, and beverage and food expenses at our outings and activities throughout the year.

Slow and Beginner Runners: A full 1/3 of our group consider themselves "slow" or "beginner" and they are always surprised after their first run... "I didn't think there would be anyone my speed to run with!" Paces for this group range from 9:30 - 14:00 minutes per mile. We also support walking which is about 16:00 minutes / mile.

Average Runners: About half of our group. Paces range from 8:30 - 9:30 minutes per mile.

Fast Runners: About 15% of our group can run sub 3:15 marathons. If you run at this pace you'll find good company and will be out in front. Please wait for us at the end, or run an extra mile!

Public Website: www.mkeomg.com History of the group. Schedule overview. Member PRs and Firsts, FAQs, and more!

Schedule: We run outside all year in all weather, mostly on the sidewalks and paths near Lake Michigan. On Sundays we join GTRoGM to run trails at Lapham Peak State Park. In the summer we do track/speed/hill workouts at Shorewood High School and Atwater Beach Park. In the winter we offer plyometrics and yoga classes.

Social: Every Mondays we go out to eat after the run. Destinations differ weekly. (More details on our website.) We also plan monthly social events like parties, picnics, Packer games, campouts, trips to races in far away places, brewery tours, movie nights, and more. Check the calendar on Meetup to see what's up this month.

We hope you find a run that fits your schedule and we look forward to meeting you soon!

Sincerely,

The Milwaukee Running Group Organizing Committee

Friday Night Fun Run

Juneau Park

Join us for a Friday night run through downtown and the third ward of Milwaukee. This run series is all about fun!
We run 3 to 5 miles on varying routes through the lower east side, downtown, and the third ward, and occasionally start at different spots (River west, Bradford Beach, the Public Market) for special events!! Most runs conclude by playing frisbee or volleyball or hanging out a beer garden in warm weather, or catching dinner, a comedy sportz show, or bowling during the winter months! All runners of any pace or ability are welcome!

Saturday Long Run 8:00am Colectivo Run

Colectivo Lakefront

The group starts the run together then spreads out into smaller groups of similar pace.

The majority of runners typically run between 5 miles and 12 miles, but there are always exceptions. You can often find company for 3 miles or 20 miles. All levels of experience, running a wide variety of different speeds and distances, are usually represented.

Feeling anxious? #JustShowUp. We'll take care of you.

If this is your first time ask for Patrick, Reid, Rich or the OMG host. We'd be happy to answer questions, explain options, and do our best to match you up with someone your speed and distance.

Meet on the lawn just north of Colectivo before and after the run. If the weather is nice all are welcome to share a socially distanced breakfast or beverage.

Lapham Peak Sundays

Location visible to members

This Meetup is in conjunction with the Glacial Trail Runners of Greater Milwaukee Meetup Group. We'd like to invite all to enjoy the trails and hopefully stay for brunch. Note brunches are canceled for now (3/22/2020).

  1. Meet in the Evergreen Parking Lot, which is the first lot on the right.

  2. We typically run about 7 miles. If you want to run fewer miles, you can turn around at any point. If you want to run further, you can tack on some miles before or after our 9:00am run. PLEASE, if you are new to running, or have never run trails before, let the group know.

  3. It is a state park, so you need a park sticker or day pass, which you can buy as you enter. Buying a sticker is a good deal if you plan on going to a state park more than 4 times within the year.

  4. We always have a 5 minute grace period, so we're off and running by 9:05. If you know you're running a little behind, just post on this page and we'll know to wait for you. We'd hate to leave anyone behind!

  5. Brunch afterwards (sometimes) if the group would like!

We can plan occasional field trips to other trails in the area as well!

Black loop= 6.5 miles

Black Loop+Stairway= 9.75 Miles

Blue loop= 5.7 miles

Ice Age= 7.5 miles (this is the only choice in winter when the ski trails are groomed).
