Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind – Yuval Noah Harari: Time slot A

Details

Join us for a discussion of Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari, a book that tells the sweeping story of how humans went from small bands of hunter-gatherers to building complex societies that dominate the planet.

This is the first time slot available for discussion of this book, the other being Wednesday September 10th at 6:30pm. Please sign up for one or the other, and please update your RSVP in a timely manner if your plans change.

In this session, we’ll explore questions such as:

  • How did shared myths and imagined orders make large-scale cooperation possible?
  • Did the Agricultural Revolution actually make life better—or worse—for most people?
  • How have science and technology changed what it means to be human?
  • What does Harari’s perspective suggest about where we’re headed next?

Whether you’ve read the whole book or just want to explore some of its central ideas, you’re welcome to join!

If you need help accessing an ebook or audiobook version of the text, feel free to reach out to me directly.
