Something important happened back home. You weren't in the room.
This session is for anyone who has watched a wedding, a funeral, a birthday, or an ordinary Tuesday night unfold from a distance, present on a screen, absent in the room. Grieving or celebrating from afar is a quiet, private ache, made heavier because you're the one who left. Through a guided mindful art process, we make space for the moment you missed and let the distance and the love sit side by side.
This is not a technical class. No art experience needed.
What we'll do:

  • A short grounding to arrive and settle
  • A guided mindful art process using images, words, and symbols
  • Quiet reflection + optional sharing (no pressure to speak)

This approach is grounded in art therapy practices, where symbolic imagery helps hold grief and longing that live at a distance.
What you might take from it

  • A place to set down a moment you couldn't be present for
  • A softer relationship to the guilt and love that come with leaving
  • A pause to feel what the constant forward motion of expat life rarely allows

This is not therapy, but it is a structured, reflective space.
Materials to prepare:

  • Paper / paint / colors / markers or pens
  • Optional: magazines / printed images (or anything you can cut)
  • Scissors + glue

Who this is for:

  • Expats, immigrants
  • Anyone carrying distance from the people and places they love
