What we’re about

This is a group for those who are interested in taking an 8-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) class series in Portland Oregon, Introduction to Mindfulness Classes, or explore Mindfulness with Art. MBSR an 8-week evidence-based group program that focuses on the progressive acquisition of mindfulness. The program includes weekly group meetings, home practice, instruction, and a day-long guided retreat. I'm using this as a means to reach folks interested in acquiring the skills for stress reduction in a supportive group process. To fully benefit from an MBSR class series you will need a strong commitment to attend classes and to practice home assignments.

Mindfulness has the potential to improve both mental and physical health, and has been found to benefit some individuals dealing with the following health conditions or problems: ADHD, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, stress, fatigue, anger, headaches, high blood pressure, sleep problems, and more. Being mindful makes it easier to savor the pleasures in life as they occur, helps you become fully engaged in activities, and creates a greater capacity to deal with adverse events.

Additionally, I will be teaching some shorter Introduction to Mindfulness classes and Mindful Art Groups. Anyone who is curious or would lie to make some changes to improve well-being are encouraged to join a class. All are welcome including all ethnic backgrounds, gender identities, sexual orientations, or any disability status. Groups that have movement can be modified, and there is no way to fail these classes or practices.  I was trained at Center for Mindfulness at UC San Diego, and am currently studying under Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach. I'm a therapist in private practice at NW Creative Counseling, LLC in Milwaukie.
