Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an intensive, intimate, internationally-renowned mindfulness training course, modeled after the classes offered at the Stress Reduction Clinic developed almost 45 years ago by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center.

It’s one of the best ways to not only learn meditation from the ground up, but to establish a lifelong daily practice. (It’s also a wonderful way for long-time practitioners to deepen their understanding and commitment to their practice!)

Along with mindful dialogue/communication, mindful eating exercises, and a wide range of mindfulness techniques – including sitting and walking meditations, gentle yoga, and relaxing body scans (each of which can be modified to suit different body types and conditions), you are provided with a deep, experiential, integrated learning about the many and varied ways in which you can harness the power of your mind and body to reduce pain, stress, and illness, establish your own unique daily practice, and create more joy and ease in your life.

She is a Buddhist teacher, trained in the Tibetan Vajrayana tradition at Naropa University – the nation’s leading contemplative university – and in the Theravadan Vipassana (Insight) tradition by Dr. Tara Brach – one of the world’s foremost Insight teachers. She is a graduate of the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction teacher-training program led by Jon Kabat-Zinn, founder of MBSR and the Stress Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. Prior to teaching, Shell wrote about mindfulness and yoga for national magazines.

A half-day retreat included in this workshop will be Sun. Oct. 22 from 1-5 p.m.
*The $560 fee for the workshop includes eight 2.5-hour classes, audio recordings, extensive class materials, and the half-day retreat.
