Research shows that practicing mindfulness changes the brain. According to the American Psychological Association research shows practicing Mindfulness... promotes metacognitive awareness, decreases rumination via disengagement from perseverative cognitive activities, and enhances attentional capacities through gains in working memory. These cognitive gains, in turn, contribute to effective emotion-regulation strategies.

In other studies, mindfulness research has been shown to promote health and wellbeing by lowering stress hormones, reducing blood pressure, and increasing immune function. Mindfulness has been shown to have a protective quality for the brain and can lower the risk of depression and decrease anxiety. It has been shown to help people deal with pain more effectively and help improve their sleep. This awareness training has also been shown to increase emotional intelligence, social connection and improve performance at work and school.
This group is for professionals, students and community members who would like to change their relationship to stress and increase their wellbeing. Experienced practitioners and anyone who is curious about Mindfulness.
