Introduction to Snowshoeing and Winter Forest Bathing on Mont Royal
Details
NOTE: The number of RSVPs on Meet-Up is lower than the number of participants because many people register for our events through the Mindfulness Outdoors Website.
Discover the quiet beauty of winter on Mont Royal through a gentle and mindful blend of beginner-friendly snowshoeing and restorative forest bathing. This outing offers a simple, welcoming way to enjoy the season—moving at a relaxed pace while reconnecting with nature and your own inner calm, guided by licensed clinical psychologist Dr. Moire Stevenson.
This outing encourages you to move through the winter season with more steadiness, warmth, and inner clarity. Together, we'll create space to:
∿ Learn the basics of snowshoeing in a relaxed, supportive environment
∿ Experience the regulating effects of cold, fresh air on the mind and body
∿ Settle into a slower rhythm that balances movement and stillness
∿ Cultivate presence, grounding, and emotional balance through ecotherapy-based exercises
∿ Restore your energy and rediscover the simple joy of being outdoors in winter
If the event ticket price feels out of reach, please email us at [info@moirestevenson.com](mailto:info@moirestevenson.com)—we'll be happy to explore options.
What to expect:
We'll begin by meeting at the Beaver Lake Pavilion, where anyone who needs snowshoes can rent them on-site. After reviewing the basics—how to walk, move, and stay comfortable—we'll head into the forested paths of Mont Royal for a slow, mindful hike.
Throughout our time on the trail, we'll learn snowshoeing basics and beginner-friendly tips. As we walk through the trails, the group will be guided in mindfulness practices and ecotherapy exercises. You'll be guided through winter forest bathing invitations designed to awaken your senses, deepen your connection with the natural world, and help you settle into a calmer, steadier rhythm. Expect gentle pauses to breathe, notice, listen, and feel the winter landscape in a new way.
Your day includes:
∿ Opening circle and intention setting
∿ Snowshoeing basics and beginner-friendly guidance
∿ Mindfulness cues and grounding practices
∿ Winter forest bathing (Shinrin-yoku) invitations
∿ Delicious hot chocolate and cookies
∿ Closing circle and take-home mindfulness prompts
Perfect for anyone curious about trying snowshoeing or seeking a mindful, restorative way to enjoy winter*—whether you're feeling stretched thin, needing reconnection, wanting to explore mindfulness, or looking for a therapeutic alternative to a high-energy outdoor activity. No prior experience is needed.*
