What we’re about
History Trails, Murder Mysteries, Treasure Hunts, Meals Out, Dancing, and Great Fun!
Welcome to Mini Adventures & Trails for The Young at Heart, a friendly and inclusive group where we bring people together through shared activities. We organise a wide variety of events to inspire, connect, and uplift. Whether it’s solving Murder Mystery History Trails, enjoying scenic walks, hunting for clues on Treasure Hunts, dining out, dancing, camping, or exploring fascinating places of interest such as historic sites and local landmarks, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Our group is centred around improving mental health and well-being. We understand the importance of feeling connected and supported, and we’re committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where everyone is made to feel valued. We proudly support the mental health charity Mind, with donations from our events helping to fund their vital work.
It’s completely free to join us! Some events may ask for small, voluntary contributions to help cover costs like materials or planning, with any surplus funds going directly to Mind to support their cause.
This is more than just a social group—it’s a community where you can make new friends, enjoy meaningful experiences, and improve your well-being while having fun. Together, we’ll create unforgettable memories, build genuine connections, and celebrate the joy of being part of something special.
Join Mini Adventures & Trails for The Young at Heart today, and discover a world of friendship, laughter, and adventure. Everyone is welcome—we can’t wait to meet you!

The walk is approximately 3 hours long with a break in the middle to grab a snack or drink at the cafe in Ripley or you can bring your own snack and sit on the seats around the castle area. You will need walking boots as we will be going over fields and it may get muddy depending on the weather.

This walk starts at Hampsthwaite Memorial Hall. It takes you through the very old village of Hampsthwaite steeped in history, through fields, footpaths, a few slight hills until we get to Ripley Castle, a short stop for a toilet break, picnic and drink before heading back towards Hampsthwaite passing a beautiful cascading waterfall and lovely woodland.

Although the walk is just under 6 miles, we will complete the walk at a steady pace, to take in the sights and learn some history.
At the end of the walk, there is a coffee shop in Hampsthwaite if you fancy a coffee before you go.

We are starting at 10.30 am, so please arrive early. The walk is roughly about 2 and half hours long, but we will be stopping for a break in Ripley for half an hour.
