Over approximately 2 miles, you’ll immerse yourself in the intrigue of the past and uncover the truth behind this notorious crime.

YOUR GUIDE: Join a small group and receive a self-guided map to lead you on this thrilling treasure trail. As you wander, you’ll solve riddles, uncover clues, and piece together the story of Robert of Wetherby’s murder. It’s an exciting and interactive way to explore history while playing detective. Whether you’re meeting new friends or sharing the adventure with old ones, this is a challenge you won’t forget!

MEET: 10:30 am – in the Wilderness Car Park by the bandstand (look for your hosts — some cheerful detectives armed with maps!). The Wilderness car park is quite a big car park and is free.

END: We can all head to a cafe in our groups afterwards.

WHY WETHERBY?
Known as the “Gateway to the Dales,” Wetherby is steeped in history, from its Roman roots to its time as a bustling coaching town. But beyond its picturesque riverside and charming streets lies a tale of betrayal and murder. In the 14th century, Robert of Wetherby was found dead under suspicious circumstances. The trail will take you back in time, exploring the motives, suspects, and secrets that surrounded his death. Can you uncover who was responsible for this chilling crime?

I believe in providing a more intimate and personalised experience, so I prefer to send groups off in smaller numbers so nobody (new or old members) feels left out. Alternatively, you can form your own group with your friends to embark on this thrilling journey together!

THE WALK: This walk is mostly on paved paths and is an easy walk over 2 miles. Your group will be going at a slow pace as they look for clues, listen to stories and follow directions.

This event is FREE. However, we will be collecting donations for MIND, the charity our Adventure Group supports.
