SO NOW TO THE ROYAL RAMBLE . . .
The walk is approximately 3 hours long with a break in the middle to grab a snack or drink at the cafe in Ripley or you can bring your own snack and sit on the seats around the castle area. You will need walking boots as we will be going over fields and it may get muddy depending on the weather.

HISTORY
This is a lovely circular route around Hampsthwaite and Ripley. Discover some facts on the Gunpowder Plot, Oliver Cromwell, King James I and King Edward I that are linked to the very routes you will be walking! A great way to keep fit, meet new friends.
***
This walk starts at Hampsthwaite Memorial Hall. It takes you through the very old village of Hampsthwaite steeped in history, through fields, footpaths, a few slight hills until we get to Ripley Castle, a short stop for a toilet break, picnic and drink before heading back towards Hampsthwaite passing a beautiful cascading waterfall and lovely woodland.
***
Although the walk is just under 6 miles, we will complete the walk at a steady pace, to take in the sights and learn some history.
At the end of the walk, there is a coffee shop in Hampsthwaite if you fancy a coffee before you go.
***
TIMINGS
We are starting at 10.30 am, so please arrive early. The walk is roughly about 2 and half hours long, but we will be stopping for a break in Ripley for half an hour.
