About us
Alright fellow nerds, let's get together to share our love of awesome scifi, fantasy and adventure novels!
How it works:
We're a pretty casual and diverse group who gets together on the 3rd Tuesday of every month for a fun and interesting discussion on the month's book selection. Some of us get there a little early to grab a bite to eat and socialize a little beforehand - it's okay if you skip this and arrive on time!
It is not required to finish the book (but be prepared for spoilers if you don't!) All that we ask is for you join us for a good time and treat everyone with respect.
Please note that if you are an author, you are more than welcome to join us but we do ask that you refrain from self-promotion.
We don't have any sort of formal discussion questions or structure and instead, we let the conversation flow naturally. Our discussions typically last around an hour and a half and then we will use the last half hour to come up with suggestions for our next book selection poll.
We select our books 2 months in advance and after suggestions have been made, we use an online poll to vote on our selections.

The Bright Sword - Lev Grossman
·OnlineOnlineVirtual Book Club Event - July 2026
Come join us to discuss this month's poll selection, The Bright Sword by Lev Grossman!
Here is a short synopsis from Goodreads:
A gifted young knight named Collum arrives at Camelot to compete for a place at the Round Table, only to find that he’s too late. King Arthur died two weeks ago at the Battle of Camlann, and only a handful of the knights of the Round Table are left.
The survivors aren’t the heroes of legend like Lancelot or Gawain. They’re the oddballs of the Round Table, like Sir Palomides, the Saracen Knight, and Sir Dagonet, Arthur’s fool, who was knighted as a joke. They’re joined by Nimue, who was Merlin’s apprentice until she turned on him and buried him under a hill. But it's up to them to rebuild Camelot in a world that has lost its balance, even as God abandons Britain and the fairies and old gods return, led by Morgan le Fay. They must reclaim Excalibur and make this ruined world whole again—but first they'll have to solve the mystery of why the lonely, brilliant King Arthur fell.
The first major Arthurian epic of the new millennium, The Bright Sword is steeped in tradition, complete with duels and quests, battles and tournaments, magic swords and Fisher Kings. It's also a story about imperfect men and women, full of strength and pain, trying to reforge a broken land in spite of being broken themselves.

Come join us to discuss this month's poll selection, Red Rising by Pierce Brown!
Here is a short synopsis from Goodreads:
Darrow is a Red, a member of the lowest caste in the color-coded society of the future. Like his fellow Reds, he works all day, believing that he and his people are making the surface of Mars livable for future generations. Yet he toils willingly, trusting that his blood and sweat will one day result in a better world for his children.
But Darrow and his kind have been betrayed. Soon he discovers that humanity reached the surface generations ago. Vast cities and lush wilds spread across the planet. Darrow—and Reds like him—are nothing more than slaves to a decadent ruling class.
Inspired by a longing for justice, and driven by the memory of lost love, Darrow sacrifices everything to infiltrate the legendary Institute, a proving ground for the dominant Gold caste, where the next generation of humanity’s overlords struggle for power. He will be forced to compete for his life and the very future of civilization against the best and most brutal of Society’s ruling class. There, he will stop at nothing to bring down his enemies . . . even if it means he has to become one of them to do so.
