What we're about

This writing group helps you meet your weekly writing goals by providing a structured time and place to write. We welcome all genres and styles, from fantasy to poetry to simply doing homework. If you're out of story ideas, there's a list of prompts. If you want to learn how to write, there’s a stack of writing books. We focus on putting words on the page, but you are welcome to ask other members questions and chat about writing. Feel free to use our online Discussion Board!

Weekly Writing Meet-Up

Needs a location

We welcome all genres and experience levels. We focus on spending the time writing and learning how to write. There’s a book of prompts if you need some story ideas. There's a stack of writing books if you want to learn how to write. We're also open to talking about your writing dilemmas and giving advice on how to improve.

COVID* Boston now requires that you have your vaccine card for being in a restaurant.

Agenda:
12:00 - Get settled
12:15 - Write
2:15 - Feel accomplished, maybe have a victory drink or play a board game.

RSVP if you want emailed updates. Otherwise, it’s not needed. Most of our members come without RSVPing. There’s always a handful of us, so no worries about getting lonely!

Location: Tavern of Tales in Mission Hill (it's a board game bar). Look for the tables with signs that say "Writers Group". If you'd rather not write nearby others, you're welcome to sit wherever you’re comfortable.

Price: Free. The tavern is nice enough to host us, so please buy something to support them. There's coffee, beer, sandwiches, etc.

Mass Transit: Right on the orange line! Plus, easy access to the 66 bus.

Parking: Parking is free on Tremont St outside. It is generally not hard to find a parking spot, but if you have trouble, park behind the Community College by taking a right on Columbus St, a left on Cedar St and park amongst the housing development there. It's free and un-permitted (but of course check the signs to make sure).
