James Joyce or Marcel Proust?
In this meetup please join us for a discussion of the history of interior monologue and stream of consciousness and its usage by the two masters of the form.
We will live read extracts from Ulysses and In Search of Lost Time to compare and contrast Proust's and Joyce's different conceptions of narration, memory, the novel in general and the key word: metempsychosis.
We will also have a general open friendly discussion over the merits of Joyce’s vs Proust’s writing with the help of a 2022 study on Wagner’s influence on both writers.
