Shaw: Man and Superman

George Bernard Shaw’s play, Man and Superman follows John Tanner, a self-declared revolutionary determined to avoid all custom and norm, and Ann Whitefield, who is determined to marry him.

Rather than face up to marriage, Tanner flees London, travels into the Spanish mountains, even goes so far as to dream he makes it all the way to hell—wherein he debates what pleasure, reason, and progress mean with the Devil himself.
